Hi everyone and welcome to my Healthy Eating and Weight Loss website. Cooking has always been a passion of mine ever since I joined the Boy Scouts at the age of 12 and had to prepare a 3-course meal over an open fire to pass my cooking badge. Since then, I started to improve my cooking skills and always tried new recipes and ideas.

 

My life goals

Being from South Africa I was exposed to a broad spectrum of different cultures and cooking recipes. This was my training ground and often my family was the guinea pigs of my new creations.

Now I want to share what I have learned.

I never had formal training as a chef, but rather choose to become a Diesel Mechanic. But the passion for cooking never left me. Hence, I now would love to offer some insight to the many recipes with ideas, tips and techniques I have collected over these years.

Growing up in a family of seven kids and my father the only bread winner, my mother had to improvise to serve a decent meal every day. But she was the best cook I ever knew by faraway. She could make the most wonderful dishes from the simplest ingredients that was available.

I later joined the boy scouts to learn life and survival skills and there everything began. During my teenage years I also met an old lady who was just as fond of cooking and baking. She started to teach me the finer skills of baking, example: how to make Puff Pastry and to bake the most wonderful milk tarts, taught me how to make Doughnuts and lots of other recipes.

Later on, I got married to someone that worked not the easiest hours, but I didn’t complain because I had the kitchen to myself to cook as I wished. When I become a father to two teenagers, I had to start introducing healthy cooking not only for them but to keep my whole family healthy. Years after that I remarried a wonderful woman who not only have a love for fine cuisine but also a passion for pairing the best wines from our wine producing regions. Our locally produced wines are worldwide renowned for its top of the range wines. But her health situation changed when she got diagnosed with cardio arrest and diabetes. With that all said and done we do not have any choice to eat diabetic and heart healthy food.
